LoupGarou 3:10 To Yuma

Birthdate: August 25, 2012

It almost seems a miracle, but, after six-plus years, I actually have a bred-by puppy here at LoupGarou! Through the amazing generosity of Kathleen and Kathi at Foxview, I was able to lease Penni and breed a litter of my own. Even though the litter turned out to be a singleton, little Yuma was worth all the time and energy it took to make sure the lease appeared as we wanted it to appear (with all three of our names on it) and that Yuma was registered as we wanted her to be registered (to all of us). Based on her performance at her first AKC show, she has every probability of being a tremendous show dog, with all of the spirit of Penni and Johnny tamped down into one powder keg of a puppy. Her name comes from the dramatic manner in which she made her entrance--at 3:10 a.m. after I'd already been awake for over 20 hours! (I defy you to sleep when you have a dog in labor, no matter how tired you are . . . )

Right now, Yuma is off to stay with Momma Kathleen until around Christmas or so. During that time, she'll spend her time around show dogs, learning to be a show dog. She is entered in one last show this year, so she should be able to have a nice break and then hit the ground running next year as an adult. I am thrilled that Kathleen has a chance to spend these weeks with Yuma. I know that she is in good hands and that she will come back to me safe and sound.

Once she's had a little time to mature and has outgrown that puppy brain (good luck with that!), we have big plans for little Yuma. Our goal for next year is to qualify her for at least one "big" show for 2021. If I have to, I will save for Westminster 2021, Premier 2021, and Gateway 2021 starting NOW (but realistically will have to pick one). Even setting my sights low involves getting her Bred-By Exhibitor medallion for finishing her championship in the AKC bred by exhibitor classes. Once she has finished her championships and, hopefully, her grand championships, she'll be moving on to trick training and Rally Obedience classes. Hold on tight, because this girl is set to take off!
