HAPPY NEW YEAR!

02/14/2020

Oh my gosh, what an incredible weekend--I wish I could have been there! The Guadalupe Valley Dog Fancier's show in Austin was a last-minute venture for Little Miss Yuma. We had planned to go to the UKC show the week before, but with the uncertainty of the virus being such a new thing and other unrelated issues, we decided to skip that show. Instead, we entered the Austin show, so I could avoid driving out before we knew more about its spread. It was decided that Kathi would show Yuma in the classes and Kathleen would show her in Best of Breed, if she went in.

It was a cold show weekend and the show was under a pavilion, so none of the TFTs showed very well. However, Kathleen and Kathi knew that Yuma was "on" Saturday morning and felt she was going to take Winners at the very least. Mrs. Stacy was very careful in making her selection and had not one bad thing to say about any of the dogs, but she LOVED Little Miss. After spending a good bit of time weighing Yuma and Cyi's attributes, she actually put Yuma over Cyi and put Cyi up as select. Yes--Yuma not only went Best of Breed over one champion--Cyi--but over a second champion as well! At nine months! After expecting to walk away with one point at the show, or maybe two, if she beat Tezz in the classes both days, Yuma came away with her first major! Kathleen reported the win to me via text, sending a photo of her Winners ribbon and the label "Yuma." Then she sent an unlabeled picture of the Best of Breed and Best Owner-Handled ribbons. I asked if they were also Yuma's--and was SHOCKED when Kathleen said "yes." To say I was over-the-moon happy would be an understatement. I made certain that Kathi and Kathleen had a picture made. I want to be certain to record ALL of the important wins on film. :)

The next day was more of the same, weather-wise . . . and ribbon-wise. This time, Mrs. Meyer needed no time at all to make her decision--it was really Yuma's weekend and she was just strutting her stuff. Two days and TWO MAJORS! Over TWO CHAMPIONS! I couldn't be prouder of Little Miss Yuma! :) According to Mrs. Meyer, Yuma is going to be a force to be reckoned with when she has time to mature. I have no doubt of it. She's already an amazing girl.
